The conference moves to a different city each year, and in 2010, it will be held in Anaheim, California and hosted by the University of Southern California.

Since its founding in 1993, the NMC’s mission has been to explore and promote innovative applications of technology to teaching, learning, and creative inquiry. The organization's history parallels the emergence of multimedia, the Internet, the world wide web, online video, and the mix of technologies loosely called Web 2.0, and now is poised at the frontier of new innovations like social networks, serious games, virtual worlds, and the semantic web.

The NMC has been a part of all of these developments, and our member institutions have become recognized as innovative leaders in the creative application of new ideas and approaches across the spectrum of emerging technologies.

The NMC Summer Conference attracts a range of attendees, including faculty members in new media disciplines, mid- to upper-management personnel, and senior technologists at colleges and universities.

The 2010 Summer Conference will be the sixteenth in the series.  Past conferences have been hosted by Princeton University, Case Western Reserve University, the University of British Columbia, Virginia Tech, the University of Hawaii, and ten other outstanding institutions.

NMC will hold the traditional and fun Five Minutes of Fame and the Center of Excellence Award recognizing extraordinary accomplishment in our field at the organizational level.  Other special features are being planned plus a wide range of special sessions and activities that promise to make this year’s NMC Summer Conference truly memorable.
