The Center for Educational Technology (CET) provides innovative uses
of technology in teaching and learning to Middlebury College and other
selected liberal arts colleges across the country. CET is funded by
the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to serve as a regional technology
center for the New England and Middle Atlantic regions. CET is lead
by the National Institute for Technology and Liberal Education (NITLE).
CET provides local, regional, and national programs and resources
supporting 37 liberal arts colleges in the Mid-Atlantic and New
England (MANE) Region. CET encourages collaboration and cost-effectiveness
in the implementation of new technologies for teaching, learning,
and information management.
One example of a regional program is the Advanced
Student Technology Program that has intensive summer programs
in web applications development and digital media production for
advanced student technologists. This summer they provided a Certificate
Program in Digital Media Production and New Media Studies. Students
worked with digital video and photography, interactive fiction,
Flash animations, hypertext, weblogs, digital storytelling, and
collaborative multimedia authoring by using various software programs.
