The Auscultation Assistant is an educational resource supported by
The Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching
(MERLOT).
The web site was created by Christopher Cable, MD in his fourth year
of medical school at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
The idea was developed into an individual creative project utilizing
the internet to enhance the teaching and learning of physical diagnosis.
The Auscultation Assistant provides an innovative audio visual
approach for second-year medical students to learn about the different
characteristics of various heart murmurs and breath sounds. This
approach provides medical students to improve their physical diagnosis
skills by learning the physiology of murmurs and the differences
between several types of murmurs.
