Understanding the New Dynamic: Art, Technology, and the Mind

On June 10, 2006, the closing plenary for the 2006 NMC Summer Conference was delivered by Merlin Donald, founding chair of the Department of Cognitive Science at Case Western Reserve University.

Can our ancient brain handle the challenges of managing a social-cognitive system dominated by modern media? This lecture outlined the trajectory of human cognitive evolution, and its interaction with cultural and technological evolution.

The 2006 NMC Summer Conference was held June 7-10, 2006, in Cleveland, Ohio. Hosts were Case Western Reserve University, the Cleveland Institute of Art, the Cleveland Museum of Art, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
