Some Interesting Stuff on Technology Use at Penn State University
Posted July 25th, 2008 by Alan LevineRecently blogged by Cole Camplese, "Recently I was asked to share some 'interesting statistics' about what is going on here at PSU and on a national level with the use of technology by young people. Here are some points I thought could resonate. I didn’t editorialize too much, but my basic thoughts are below. What strikes me is how this leads us to such obvious conclusions about where time, energy, and dollars should be applied within our environments."

Apple Supports Student Video Contest on Freedom
Posted June 17th, 2008 by Peter HoffmanThe National Underground Railroad Freedom Center is teaming up with Apple, to provide college students across the United States with the opportunity to share how they define freedom. Teams of college students can create and submit a short video (3 minutes or less) expressing the qualities, importance, and impact of freedom in their lives, today.
Through their submissions, students will connect with people around the world to share their ideas about Freedom and become facilitators in a very important, global dialogue concerning some of society’s most critical issues. Creating Freedom Awareness—at a time when we need it most—is, perhaps, the 21st Century’s greatest challenge.

Roadtrip Nation
Posted June 19th, 2007 by ngraySo what do you want to do with your life?
The Roadtrip Nation (RTN) Movement was born from this question, and the idea that hitting the road to meet with inspirational leaders from all walks of life could help people discover their own paths in life. Started by a group of recent college grads whose life-changing roadtrip set this all in motion, Roadtrip Nation has evolved into a National PBS Series, student roadtrip movement on over 400 colleges, three books and a growing online network at roadtripnation.com. Whatever the medium, our goal is to help people discover their own roads in life based on individuality, passion and exploration.

Eye Opener Leads to Digital Artist Award for NMC Student
Brenda Sepanek, a student enrolled in the Interactive Media Certificate Program at San Diego Community College District’s New Media Center, received a Second Place award in a national competition for artists who use computers instead of traditional media to express their creativity. Sepanek's entry featured multiple images of the human eye to illustrate the theme, "the truth is in the eye of the beholder."
The Viewpoint Digital Artist Award competition is designed to further what it calls the "digitalism" movement. Sepanek received a $2,000 prize, various computer graphics software applications and a two-year subscription to a stock photography web site. More information about the contest is available at www.digitalismtour.com.
