NMC offers the following exclusive benefits in its efforts to support innovation and collaboration between and among its member institutions:


Conferences and Events
Throughout the year, NMC offers a variety of conferences and events to bring members together and provide opportunities for professional growth. Members enjoy discounted registrations and/or exclusive invitations to events, including:

  • Unlimited registrations to the NMC Summer Conference at the deeply discounted member rate of $349 (non-member rate is $749 each). The Summer Conference is one of higher education's most distinctive and practical technology-focused events.
  • Unlimited registrations to the NMC Regional Conferences at the deeply discounted member rate of $249 (non-member rate is $399 each).
  • NMC membership adds 10 complimentary registrations for the NMC’s Series of Online Conferences.
  • Special registration discounts or access for NMC members at conferences and events sponsored by NMC partners like MERLOT, CATS, and others.

Research and Publications
Throughout the year, NMC publishes a variety of reports and papers. These are provided to the membership as they are released and include:

  • Exclusive advance access to NMC research reports, newsletters, and other publications, as well as valuable hard copy versions not generally available to the public.
  • Opportunities to participate in major NMC research and publication processes such as the Horizon Proejct Advisory Board and others.

Training & Technical Support
NMC offers access to expertise among its membership and partners, including:

  • Exclusive early registration access for free hands-on software training at the NMC Summer Conference.
  • Access to the technical expertise of the entire NMC community through the TAB discussion list.
  • Access to the technical expertise of NMC Corporate Partners in solving installation or implementation issues.
  • Exclusive software pricing and special offers from NMC corporate partners.

Project and Collaboration Support Services
NMC supports inter-institutional projects and activities among its members with a range of services, including:

  • Participation in NMC projects and grants; in 2006, $55,896 flowed to NMC members from these activities. In previous years, as much as $200,000 gone to members in this way.
  • NMC’s exclusive online discussion groups, which explore emerging technologies, solutions to technological challenges, management challenges and issues, staff development and training, and pedagogy.
  • Face-to-face & virtual meeting support and planning services in support of inter-institutional NMC member projects.
  • Grant writing and proposal submission services in support of inter-institutional NMC member projects.
  • Custom-designed blogs, websites, wikis, and networking and discussion tools to support NMC projects and member dialogs.

Other Benefits
As a special benefit of membership, NMC offers access to staff expertise and networking, including:

  • Ten complimentary Pachyderm accounts on the NMC’s Pachyderm server.
  • NMC’s Custom Survey Service, which provides members a mechanism to quickly assess the pulse of their peers on issues of the day. Included in this service are the Annual Salary Survey and the Annual Survey of Members.
  • Free grant writing consultation services, as well as assistance in identifying partners for funded projects.
