What is the Future?

We can tell you something about the very near future (October 27-29, 2009), when we invite you to take the longer view during the 2009 NMC Symposium on the Future.... here is our new video teaser for this event

How should we make this future?

The conversations have started with online thought pieces by danah boyd, Gardner Campbell, and Holly Willis. We are asking you to comment at the paragraph level via our CommentPress site http://wp.nmc.org/future.

The NMC Symposium for the Future convenes an ongoing dialog among experts, practitioners, researchers, teachers, learners, artists, and others to explore the farthest edges of technology and its actual and potential impacts on issues of global significance. The yearly Symposium is very forward looking, pushing the bounds of academic discourse, and tangibly seeking ways to address the challenges of our time and our world.

More than a "call for proposals" for the Symposium, we are soliciting something stronger--- a call for action! If you have an idea, project, plan for the future worth sharing, then share yours now. And the future does bear a deadline date of September 14, 2009!

What is our future? Share, spread our YouTube video and we invite you to post a video reply.

There is no future, only

There is no future, only what we make.
