NMC Receives Grant From HP Office of Global Social Innovation

The NMC has received a $100,000 one-year grant to provide social networking support to the HP's Catalyst Project. Under the umbrella of the HP’s Office of Global Social Innovation (OGSI), the HP Catalyst Initiative has built a network of 5 consortia and 30 schools and universities across the globe that are providing schools and educational organizations with the tools and opportunities to forge more engaging learning experiences. The work of the HP Catalyst Initiative includes a strong, active community comprised of HP grantees, thought leaders, key government officials, and noted education practitioners.

The NMC has been participating in the Catalyst Initiative for some time as part of the Initiative's Executive Advisory Board. In this new project, NMC will partner with HP to weave a social fabric that joins together all of the diverse viewpoints and perspectives of the Catalyst Initiative stakeholders. Among the activities that the NMC will build are a collection of live online interviews with noted thought leaders from around the world, as well as an ongoing series of project showcases detailing the work going on within the project.

From providing rural village schools in India with virtual rooms so they can create their own software, to bringing cloud computing to Cairo University during a national revolution, the program has had some noteable successes as it strives to learn from, connect, and build networks among creative educators all over the world who are making a real difference for students every day.
